Owen Bjorgan explores our wetlands Oct. 23

At the Oct. 23 meeting of Friends of One Mile Creek (FOMC), special guest speaker Owen Bjorgan will talk about Niagara’s wetlands and what’s happening in the watersheds of our traditional creeks such as One Mile Creek, Two Mile Creek, Four Mile Creek and Eight Mile Creek. An accomplished photographer and experienced outdoor adventurer, Owen will explain and show how important wetlands are in our ecosystem.

We’re pleased to invite Niagara on the Lake residents and others interested in natural conservation to the meeting in the Mori Nursery Room at the NOTL Community Centre at 7 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Owen is a local from Niagara On the Lake who has hiked much of the natural areas in Niagara. He’s the owner and operator of Biophilic World Hiking Tours since 2017, a local hiking tour company specializing in getting people outside to experience the Niagara’s peninsula’s incredible ecosystems.

A 2016 graduate from University of Guelph with a Bachelors in Biodiversity, Owen has produced four “Hidden Corners” international nature documentaries, including one on Niagara that is available on his website at bwhikes.com. He is a Ted Talk speaker and two-time recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award from Rotary International. He thru-hiked the 890-km Bruce Trail on a 37-day expedition in 2014, raising funds for local charities.
